  Aloha Festivals Hawaiian Falsetto Contest Winners
This compilation features past winners from the Frank B. Shaner Falsetto Contest, part of the Aloha Festivals celebration held every fall. The contests and recordings are integral in keeping the beloved art of falsetto alive.

Dedicated to her mother, musical
legend Irmgard Farden Aluli, I. Mihana Aluli Souza's first solo album scored top honors as the "2003 Jazz Album" at the annual Na Hoku Hanohano Awards.
Owana, Wahine Slack 'N Steel
Owana Salazar's fresh treatment of traditional and contemporary styles contributed to her winning the prized Na Hoku "2003 Female Vocalist of the Year." Her renditions of Sam Li'a's "Hi'ilawe" and Jimi Hendrix's "Waterfall" are magical.


The Gift of Music-From Father to Son
Dennis Kamakahi sings and performs slack key guitar, with his son David on 'ukulele. Selections include traditional favorites and original compositions by Kamakahi, one of Hawai'i's most prolific composers.

Hawaiian 105 KINE's "Aloha Morning Show" hosts Frank B. Shaner and Brickwood Galuteria put their heads together for this issue's list of recommended Hawaiian music
